RIO GRANDE 1953 - 1954

With the 1952-53 season underway it didn’t take long for the Rio Grande
College basketball team to showcase its talent.

The college did more than raise a few eyebrows with Rio Grande alum,
Newt Oliver, as coach and Clarence “Bevo” Francis tearing up the court.
The team ended its 1952-53 season with a perfect 39-0 record. That win
still ranks as the most victories in a season by a college team.
