The 6-foot-3, 190-pound guard from Shelby High School was a three-year starter at Ohio State and key member of the Buckeyes’ 1960 national championship team, which produced five NBA players. Voted OSU’s most valuable player as a sophomore, Siegfried accepted a lesser scoring role when Jerry Lucas, John Havlicek and Mel Nowell became eligible in the class behind him. Nevertheless, he was picked as an All-American in 1961 when the Bucks were upset by Cincinnati in the NCAA title game.
