JIMMY HULL
Jim was a graduate of Greenfield McLain High School. At Ohio State he was a second team consenus All-American in 1939. He was a three year starter and team captain his senior year. Also in 1939 he led Ohio State to the Big Ten Championship and to their first NCAA Final Four. OSU played in the championship game and with a 19.1 average Hull was the leading scorer in the tournament and thus the MVP. Hull was one of 11 Final Four MVP’s to be on a team that did not win the championship (also includes Jerry Lucas in 1961). Hull scored 28 points vs. Villanova at the Palestra in Philadelphia, then a building record according to newspaper reports. Jimmy was the first OSU basketball player to become an All-American.
