JIM SNYDER
Coach Jim Snyder was an outstanding football and basketball player at Ohio University from1937-1941. He was a member of the 1941 NIT runner-up team. During his 25 years as head basketball coach from 1949-1974, Snyder’s teams were 355-245, and won seven MAC Championships. He was inducted into four Halls of Fames. Some of the big time thrills include a playoff win in the 1960 NCAA tourney over Notre Dame, wins over Indiana and over Xavier in 1957-58. The 1960 and 1958 teams (wins over Indiana and Xavier), which later won Big Ten and NIT Championships, and the 85-69 conquest of highly favored Kentucky in the semi finals of the NCAA Regional in 1963 were among the highlights of his career. Jim had a winning season in 21 of 25 years he coached the Bobcats. NCAA Tournament victories include Louisville and Kentucky in 1964.
