GARY BRADDS

Gary Bradds attended Greeneview High School in Jamestown, Ohio between 1957 through 1961. During his high school career, he was named All League three years and All State two years. He participated in the Ohio/Indiana All Star Game his senior year. Gary was an all-time leading scorer at Greeneview High School averaging thirty-three points per game his senior year, which is still a standing school record. He also holds the school record for most points scored in a game, which was sixty-one points and for the most career points. At Ohio State in 1964 Gary was named National Player of the Year.

After college, Gary was drafted by the Baltimore Bullets in the first round (3rd pick) of the NBA draft. In addition, during his professional career, he also played for the Oakland Oaks, North Carolina Cougars and the Dallas Chaparrals with the ABA. While playing for the Oakland Oaks, he was part of the team that won the ABA championship in 1969. Gary’s professional play was limited by his recurring knee injuries. He retired from professional play in 1971. After leaving professional basketball, Gary went on to become a school teacher, a coach and a school administrator. He succumbed to cancer in 1983 leaving behind a loving wife and three adoring children.
